Coco and Pixar
"Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history."

Disney Pixar Coco is a heartwarming movie about family, tradition and following your dreams. This Thanksgiving, I hope you will take your entire family and a box of tissues to go see it. If you want to learn more about it, here is my non-spoiler Coco movie review. Recently, I had the opportunity to fly to Los Angeles for the #DisneyPixarEvent where we walked the "marigold carpet", screened Pixar Coco and interviewed cast from the film. I am excited to share my Interview with Benjamin Bratt from Disney Pixar Coco.

SPECTACULAR ENCOUNTER – In Disney•Pixar’s “Coco,” aspiring musician Miguel (voice of Anthony Gonzalez) takes an extraordinary journey through the Land of the Dead in search of his idol. He finds that Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt) just might be an even bigger star than he was in the Land of the Living. Disney•Pixar’s “Coco” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2017. Tickets are on sale now at Fandango and Atom. ©2017 Disney•Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

In Disney Pixar Coco, Benjamin Bratt plays the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz who is Miguel's musical idol. Ernesto de la Cruz is a larger than life character who is passionate about music, his fans and himself. This character is a really fun who is vibrant, passionate and a great part of the story. Benjamin Bratt enjoyed playing this character that and starring in a movie that had characters that looked like people he knew. He is excited for Pixar Coco because it is a Portrayal of his ancestors in a way that hasn't been done at that scale.

Benjamin Bratt posing for the cameraWe had the opportunity to attend the same movie screening as Benjamin Bratt. We asked him how it was seeing the movie at the premiere and he said that it was probably the most heartwarming premiere that he has ever attended. He loved that it felt like a premiere and a celebration with the music and dancing. The premiere was his first time seeing the completed film and thought it was absolutely beautiful and powerful to look at.

Benjamin Bratt has a favorite scene in the movie. It is a favorite of mine too and one that you will need tissues for. I don't want to give any spoilers but his favorite scene is with Chicarron. You'll love this scene but it will make you cry. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it, but I don't want to tell you any more so you can truly feel the moment when you watch it.

Benjamin Bratt feels that an important lesson we can learn from Pixar Coco is the importance of staying connected. "If we don't stay connected, that's it!" There is a sense of belonging to staying connected that is important. You can stay connected to your ancestors through prayer and remembering their memory.

Coco and PixarWhen Benjamin Bratt first found out about his role and that singing was a part of it, he was immediately terrified. He was grateful because they film makers put him in the recording studio and gave him opportunities to fail until he figured it out. He has always wanted to be a singer so this was a dream come true for him.

When looking at the movie, Benjamin Bratt hopes that people will learn to have compassion, and lead with kindness, empathy and love. He wants them to recognize that relationships and family are priority. And remember that for him, he is husband and father first. He hopes to be remembered by his family as being kind, generous, having loving in his heart, integrity, and being fun!A group of people posing for a photo

Our Benjamin Bratt interview was really fun because not only did we learn more about his role in making the movie, but we learned about how passionate he is about making a film about his culture. He loves that film stories can do a lot to teach people and Pixar Coco does  a great job in teaching powerful lessons. Benjamin Bratt was fantastic to interview and had one last final important opinion of Ernesto de la Cruz-- "His Hair was Perfect." 🙂
