All Star Wars fans will love these Star Wars R2D2 Treats
Alright, who else is crazy excited for STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI? Who has already had their tickets for weeks and counting down the days? My kids love Star Wars and have been in countdown mode for a while now and we are taking them to see the movie this Friday night. I think I might just surprise them with a batch of Star Wars R2D2 Treats when they come home from school on Friday! Great way to celebrate The Last Jedi coming to theaters.
Star Wars R2D2 Treats
1 box of white chocolate ding dongs
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp cream of tarter
4 C powder sugar
sky blue, red, and black gel food coloring
4 disposable piping bags, fitted with a number 2 tip
1 cookie sheet fitted with parchment paper
Directions
- Unwrap the white Ding Dong from the wrapper and place onto the cookie sheet.
- Using a standing mixer, combine egg whites, cream of tarter, and powder sugar and mix on medium speed until stiff peaks form about 7 minutes.
- Split the icing into 4 bowls.
- Add blue gel food coloring into 1 bowl and mix until you get the shade of blue you want.
- Add red gel food coloring into the second bowl and mix until you get a nice shade of red.
- Add a tiny amount of black gel food coloring into the 3rd bowl and mix until you get a shade of grey.
- Add black gel food coloring and mix until you get a good shade of black that you like. Add more food coloring if needed.
- Scoop each icing into their own bag.
- Using the blue piping bag, pipe on the blue detail onto the smooth part of the ding dong.
- Fill in with the blue icing.
- Pipe a line under the bottom detail of the ding dong.
- Pipe a black line under the blue line.
- Pipe a black circle in the middle of the middle big square.
- Pipe a grey circle in the empty space on the bottom row of squares on the right side.
- Pipe a red dot onto the rectangle next to the grey circle.
- Let dry for an hour before enjoying.
