Solo: A Star Wars Story Interview with Alden Ehrenreich

movie poster The moment that talent walks into the room for an interview, the 25 bloggers in the room start cheering and clapping. This is always a fun moment because it catches the actors of guard and relaxes the setting. When we interviewed Alden Ehrenreich, it was quite funny because after he sat down, he still seemed a little distracted and flustered. Before asking him questions, he said that he needed to interrupt real quick to apologize because he is still in shock because Harrison Ford just surprised him during and interview. He mentioned that we were the first people he talked to since being surprised so he was still feeling blown away by the encounter.

We later came across this tweet that shared the moment Harrison Ford walked into the room.

Alden Ehrenreich in an interview

I really enjoyed interviewing Alden Ehrenreich because he was very kind and very humble. You could tell that he was very grateful for having the opportunity to play the role of Han Solo in the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie. He laughed as he told us about his experience meeting Harrison Ford and mentioned that Harrison Ford said that he loved the movie, thought that Alden did great and that Alden would make "hundreds and hundreds of dollars." 🙂 Alden Ehrenreich had the opportunity to attend the premiere with his entire family.

He loved having them at the premiere and said his younger cousins and family members were so excited that they stayed up late making iphone Star Wars movies. He went to an "after party after the after party" with just his family and felt like this was something he wanted to always do because it was special.

Alden Ehrenreich is Han Solo in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.

Alden Ehrenreich was mind blown when he found out that he go the part of Han Solo. He was so excited but told that he couldn't tell anyone so he went to Santa Monica Pier and road a roller coaster to celebrate. He did then tell his family because he was so excited. He recognized that there would be a lot of pressures playing Han Solo and jumping in to an already established fan base. He concentrated on what he had control over and the task at hand. He recognizes that in living up to a developed character that it is important to learn how to navigate what weight you give to opinions of others and how you think for yourself.

He wanted to play the role in a way with enough continuity that showed why we would grow into the Harrison Ford Han Solo. In preparing for the role, he stared by watching all of the original Star Wars movies so he could study Han Solo and how he acted and moved. Empire Strikes back is his favorite movie because he loves Yoda and loves the real wisdom Yoda brings to the movie.

Alden Ehrenreich and Star Wars

Alden Ehrenreich is Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo is Chewbacca in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.

Alden Ehrenreich talked about how amazing it was being on the Millenium Falcon the first time. He says in the beginning it is fun and surreal but two months down the road you know what all the buttons do and it feels like it is yours. One of his favorite relationships in making this film was with his co-pilot Chewbacca. They had the opportunity to spend a lot of time together during stunt training and boxing. They even played video games together but Alden said he isn't very good at video games. When talking about Joonas Suotamo, Alden says that he is the whole package. Perfect with a big heart and an extra long bed because he is so tall.

We had a great time interviewing Alden Ehrenreich and loved hearing about his experiences making the movie. He was very kind, talked highly of the other actors he worked with and loved the opportunity. He was so kind to take a group picture after the interview.
