As part of the Monkey Kingdom Event we had the opportunity to visit The Sanaa Restaurant for a four course lunch. The Sanaa restaurant is a beautiful restaurant located at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The design of the building is absolutely stunning and makes it quite an dining experience. It is definitely an experience that I normally wouldn't have enjoyed. Safari-themed restaurant interior with large arched windows overlooking an outdoor animal exhibit.

One of the things I love about Disney dining is that they do such a great job at making your meal so much more than just a meal. At Animal Kingdom Lodge, Sanaa Restaurant, not only are you eating delicious food in a beautiful environment, but your out the window view is this:

A sunny day at a park with palm trees and the Animal Kingdom Lodge in the background, where Sanaa Restaurant can be found.Right outside your dining window is one of Animal Kingdom Lodges four savannas. You can enjoy a delicious meal while watch the animals walking around outside. How cool is that. I really wanted my kids to be with me, because they would have really enjoyed this restaurant.

I am very picky. I would have never every in a million years chosen to go to Sanaa restaurant. I don't try new foods. I am not experimental, and their food choices are not ones that I would like. Right? Man, I was so wrong. I decided to give it a try and seriously, the food is amazing. I couldn't even pick a favorite because I liked it all. I even tried all of the sauces above that go with the Indian-style Bread Service. If you go to Sanaa, this is definitely the way to start your meal. The Indian-style Bread Service includes:

Choice of Three Breads - Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha, or Paneer Paratha. Choice of Three Accompaniments - Red Chile Sambal, Cucumber Raita, Coriander Chutney, Mango Chutney, Coconut Chutney, Garlic Pickle, Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle, Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus, or Tamarind Chutney"

My favorites-- Traditional Naan and the Red Chile Sambal. They are all different, flavorful and very good!

Next on the menu, we were able to samples a few different salads. Salad Sample on the menu which includes your choice of Three Salads: Chickpeas with Cucumber and Tomato; Watermelon, Cucumber and Fennel; Kachumbari; Mango; or Bhel Puri. My favorite was the tomato one shown above. I could eat that every day!
Three dishes on a tray containing Indian cuisine from Animal Kingdom Lodge Sanaa Restaurant: paneer curry, cumin rice, and chicken curry.

Main dish time! If you go to Sanaa you have to order the Butter Chicken! They mentioned that it was one of their most popular dishes. It is pictured on the right. I poured by Butter Chicken onto the Basmati rice and ate it like that. I really appreciate the smaller portions of each items because it makes me feel like I could eat all of the courses and be able to try everything! Dessert is must have at Sanaa! We had the Dessert Trio which included Tanzanian Chocolate Mousse, Banana Cheesecake, and Seasonal Kulfi. Kulfi is a type of ice cream. These are small bite size desserts which makes it fun so you could try each kind. If you prefer just getting one of the selections, you can order it separately. I don't think I could choose a favorite between these because all three are delicious.

Now I'm hungry and want more Sanaa. Next time you are at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I highly recommend checking out the Sanaa restaurant. I can't wait to go back!

I received an all expense paid trip to Disney World for the Monkey Kingdom Event. In return I have agreed to share my experiences with my readers. All opinions are my own.
