My daughter and We Are in an ART-ivity Book! by Mo Willems are a match made in heaven. From the moment that it came in the mail, she has been going page by page imagining all of the creations that she can make. Out of all of my kids, my 6 year old is the most imaginative. When I come up with describing words for her, they would definitely include imaginative, creative, thinker, smart, and artist. She is a free spirited lover who has always loved the books by Mo Willems, but quickly the We Are in an ART-ivity Book! became a favorite. She sets up her desk with her markers, scissors and thinking cap and gets ready to create. I have always taught my kids the importance of reading and thinking. Luckily all of them have learned to love books and like to read every day. My six year old daughter is in the early stages of reading. There are some books she can read herself and she loves ending each day reading with her mom and dad. With her creative mind, she loves the extra rewards of making reading fun. Her "My Star Reader Chart" is a fun way for her to color a star each time she does a page in her We Are in an ART-ivity Book! by Mo Willems or when she reads a book herself. She has lots of fun Elephant & Piggie books to choose from.
The fun thing about color in charts, is that the reward is in the success! She gets so excited to fill in all of the stars and get told at the end that she did a great job! Your child could color in the star or if they love earning stickers you could have them put a star sticker on each star after they read.
