Gut health is something I’ve paid a lot more attention to over the years, so I was especially excited about Palm Life Probiotic Complex. This is one of the Palm Life products we actually use in our home, and I love that there is more to the formula than simply putting billions of probiotics into a capsule.
I’ve tried enough supplements to know that I don’t want to choose a probiotic just because the front of the bottle has a huge CFU number. I want to know which probiotic strains are in it, what else is included to support a healthy gut, and whether it’s something I feel good about taking regularly.
That’s what interested me about this one.

SHOP PALM LIFEWhy We Use Palm Life Probiotic
Gut health can get complicated really quickly.
Good bacteria. Bad bacteria. Prebiotics. Probiotics. Postbiotics. The gut microbiome.
There is a LOT to learn.
I’ve become much more interested in supporting my own gut health, but I still want it explained in a way that actually makes sense.
What I like about Palm Life Probiotic is that it isn’t just about adding beneficial bacteria. Palm Life designed the formula to support the environment those bacteria live in, too.
That made sense to me.

What’s Different About Palm Life Probiotic?
When I used to shop for a probiotic supplement, one of the first things I noticed was the number on the bottle.
More billions must mean a better probiotic, right?
Not necessarily.
Palm Life specifically describes this formula as going “beyond a CFU count.”
Instead of focusing on one big number, the formula combines multiple probiotic strains with XOS prebiotics, CoreBiome® tributyrin, zinc carnosine and Pomella® pomegranate extract.
So rather than just thinking about adding good bacteria, you’re looking at the bigger picture of the gut microbiome and gut lining.
That’s one of the reasons this formula caught my attention.

Which Probiotic Strains Are in Palm Life Probiotic?
Palm Life uses five probiotic strains:
- Bacillus coagulans
- Bacillus subtilis
- Lactobacillus acidophilus
- Lactobacillus plantarum
- Lactobacillus rhamnosus
I like that Palm Life uses different types rather than relying on a single strain.
Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus subtilis
These are spore-forming probiotic strains.
Palm Life specifically chose them because they are naturally heat- and acid-stable. That stability is important because a probiotic has to make its way through stomach acid and the digestive tract.
Lactobacillus Probiotic Strains
Palm Life also includes Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus.
These complementary strains are included for broad-spectrum microbiome support.
When I look at multi-strain probiotics, I appreciate being able to see exactly which strains I’m getting rather than simply seeing “probiotic blend” on the ingredient list.
What Are Prebiotics?
This was one of those things I had to learn because prebiotics and probiotics are not the same thing.
The easiest way I think about it is:
Probiotics = beneficial microorganisms.
Prebiotics = fuel for beneficial bacteria.
Palm Life includes 750 mg of xylooligosaccharides (XOS) in each serving.
XOS is a prebiotic designed to provide fuel for beneficial bacteria and support a balanced gut environment.†
We can also get prebiotics naturally from certain prebiotic-rich foods, but I like that Palm Life includes a prebiotic directly in this formula.
What Is CoreBiome® Tributyrin?
This is probably the ingredient I was least familiar with when I first looked at Palm Life Probiotic.
Each serving contains 300 mg of CoreBiome® Tributyrin.
Tributyrin provides butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid associated with the gut environment. Palm Life includes CoreBiome® to support gut lining health.†
And this is where I think the formula gets interesting.
Instead of thinking only about adding live microorganisms or good bacteria, Palm Life is also looking at the environment inside the gut.
Why Is Zinc Carnosine Included?
Palm Life Probiotic contains 75 mg of zinc carnosine.
Palm Life includes zinc carnosine to support gut barrier integrity.†
Again, this is one of the reasons I don’t think of this as just another bottle of probiotics.
The formula is looking at multiple pieces of good gut health instead of focusing exclusively on probiotic bacteria.
And There Is Pomegranate Too!
This ingredient was a fun surprise.
Palm Life includes 150 mg of Pomella® Pomegranate Extract.
Pomegranate naturally contains polyphenols, and Palm Life includes Pomella® to provide polyphenol support for a healthy gut environment.†
So in one formula you’re getting probiotics, a prebiotic, a short-chain fatty acid source, zinc carnosine and pomegranate extract.
That’s a much more interesting ingredient list to me than simply seeing a giant CFU number.

Palm Life Probiotic Ingredients
Here is the easy version of what you’re getting:
| Ingredient | Amount / Type |
|---|---|
| Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) | 750 mg |
| CoreBiome® Tributyrin | 300 mg |
| Pomella® Pomegranate Extract | 150 mg |
| Zinc Carnosine | 75 mg |
| Bacillus coagulans | Probiotic strain |
| Bacillus subtilis | Probiotic strain |
| Lactobacillus acidophilus | Probiotic strain |
| Lactobacillus plantarum | Probiotic strain |
| Lactobacillus rhamnosus | Probiotic strain |
I especially like seeing Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus clearly identified rather than hidden inside a generic blend.
Does Palm Life Probiotic Need to Be Refrigerated?
No refrigeration!
This is one of those little things that I really appreciate.
Palm Life says its Probiotic Complex can be taken without mixing and does not require refrigeration.
That makes it much easier to keep with my other dietary supplements instead of remembering that I have another bottle hiding in the refrigerator.

How Do You Take Palm Life Probiotic?
Palm Life recommends three capsules per day.
There’s no mixing involved, and the product doesn’t need to be refrigerated.
I always recommend following the product directions and talking with your health care provider if you have questions about adding a probiotic supplement to your routine.
Why I Like This Formula for Gut Health
I think my favorite thing about Palm Life Probiotic is that the formula makes me think about gut health differently.
It’s easy to think:
Probiotics = put more good bacteria in your gut.
But the digestive system is obviously more complicated than that.
Palm Life combines different probiotic strains with prebiotic fuel and ingredients intended to support the gut microbiome, beneficial bacteria and gut lining.
For me, that makes more sense than choosing a probiotic brand based solely on whichever bottle advertises the largest number.
And ultimately, this is a product we actually use and love.
I share a lot of products, but the ones I enjoy writing about most are the ones that are already part of our lives. Palm Life has become a brand we trust in our home, and gut health is something I personally care about.

My Final Thoughts
Gut health is personal for me, which is probably why I find this formula so interesting.
I don’t want to take a probiotic just because the bottle tells me there are billions of bacteria inside. I want to understand what I’m taking and why those ingredients are there.
With Palm Life Probiotic, I like that the formula looks beyond the probiotic strains themselves. It includes prebiotic XOS for beneficial bacteria, tributyrin and zinc carnosine for gut lining support, and pomegranate extract for additional polyphenol support.†
Most importantly, we use it, we love it, and it’s from a brand we trust.
That’s the kind of product I’m always happiest to share.
