INGREDIENTS

–all-purpose flour – baking powder – sugar – salt –  butter (cold and diced) – egg – milk

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a bowl.

Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. You can use a pastry cutter or your fingers.

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir just until combined.

Knead the dough gently a few times (in the bowl or on a floured surface). Shape into balls, flatten slightly, and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

Bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
