“In this epic novel, set in France in World War II, two sisters who live in a small village find themselves estranged when they disagree about the imminent threat of occupation. Separated by principles and temperament, each must find her own way forward as she faces moral questions and life-or-death choices. Haunting, action-packed, and compelling.” ― Christina Baker Kline
I love reading a good book. I have five kids and my life is really busy so when I find a book that I really enjoy I have a hard time putting it down. I love being able to dive in to a story and really let it take over me. This is such an amazing form of entertainment for me because you are able to escape the stresses of life and truly get into a story. Kristin Hannah’s The Nightingale is one of the books that you will not be able to put down. I love this book because you feel and learn so much and you get emotionally invested in all aspects of the story. It has been a long time since I have found a book that I will cry my way through like I did with this book.
In this book you will follow two sisters through their journey during World War II. You will learn about passion, purpose, courage and love as two sisters have to embark on a path of heartache, and survival during a time in history that is war torn and difficult. If you are a part of a book club, I would highly recommend reading this book because it is an amazing novel that is for everyone. It is a novel of sacrifice and love where I think many people will relate to the challenges these two sisters face. This historical fiction novel is a great read to learn about a period of time through a well written story. I love the quote, “In Love we find out who we want to be. In war we find out who we are.” It is often in the hardest times that we truly find out who we are.
