I received the DreamWorks Holiday Collection and Original Christmas Classics DVD Sets for Review.  All opinions are my own.

I love family Holiday Movies.  In our home, we keep up all of our Fall decorations until the day after Thanksgiving, but we start listening to Christmas music and watching Christmas movies as a family starting November 1st. I think the reason I love holiday movies so much, is because it is a tradition that we do as a family.  We sit down as a family, we make a treat or cook up some pizza and we enjoy these classic together.  So often, they watch their other movies with their siblings, but holiday movies, we watch as a family.  I have so many memories snuggled up with my kids watching these movies, that they just make me smile.

DreamWorks Holiday Collection

I love the DreamWorks Holiday collection films because they are fun, up beat and always make you laugh.  They are holiday specials from the movies that my kids love watching.  They love being able to enjoy their favorite characters during the Christmas Season.  DreamWorks Holiday collection includes holiday features from Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train a Dragon. These are all family friendly movies perfect for all ages.  Here is a little about the movies in this collection:

Shrek The Halls
The Christmas tree isn’t the only thing green in this holiday classic. Just when Shrek thinks he has everything set for a quiet ogre family Christmas, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingy and the rest of the gang decide to crash the party. Shrek the Halls is the greatest holiday tale that’s never been told… until now.

Merry Madagascar
When Santa and his reindeer crash onto the island of Madagascar, it’s up to Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman and those wacky penguins to save Christmas. Get ready for a sleigh full of laughs in this hilarious holiday classic.

Kung Fu Panda Holiday
In this hilarious action-packed Holiday Special, Master Shifu calls on Po to host the year’s biggest event. The Winter Feast is a special time of the year where the Kung Fu Masters celebrate family, tradition and the awesomeness of Kung Fu! Po and the Furious Five must team up to throw the best celebration the Valley Peace has ever seen. Can Po pull off the perfect party, impress his heroes, and discover the true meaning of the Winter Feast?

Dragons Holiday: Gift of the Night Fury
The dragons are back in an exciting holiday adventure! As the villagers of Berk prepare the annual Viking celebration of Snoggletog, the dragons mysteriously take flight from the island. Hiccup and Toothless set out on a journey to find the missing dragons and along the way they discover a magical holiday surprise.

This collection is full of laughter, adventure and surprise that will keep your kids attention, build memories and be watched over and over again.  I have added this collection to my Holiday Gift Guide, but I feel that is is more of a pre-holiday gift that you will want to purchase now to enjoy during the Christmas season.
Original Christmas Classics

Where the DreamWorks Holiday Collection is more humorous, adventurous and fun, the Original Christmas Classics are more of a timeless, classic tales.  They are classics that I have enjoyed and loved for years and I love that I am able to share those traditions with my children.  They are the traditional stories, many that your kids would recognize from the Holiday songs that they sing.  They are simpler made films but filled with so much enjoyment, holiday spirit and heart.  These classics include Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town, Frosty Returns, Mr. Magoos Christmas Carol, The Little Drummer Boy, Cricket on the Hearth. This collection is nice, because it has a great selection of videos that when we only have a little bit of time, we can choose one film that we want to enjoy.  Here is a little more information about some of the films in this set:

Frosty the Snowman
The world’s most famous snowman and ambassador of winter fun! When a special silk hat is placed upon his head, Frosty magically comes to life — transforming into a singing, dancing, good-natured pal who spreads happiness wherever he goes.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer
The most famous reindeer of all, Rudolph is born with something very unique — a bright red nose that glows! But then, one cloudy Christmas Eve, Rudolph uses his nose to guide Santa’s sleigh through the fog, saving the day and proving that our differences are what make us special.

Santa Clause is Comin’ to Town
Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town follows the adventures of toymaker Kris Kringle as he sets outs on a journey to bring toys to the children of Sombertown, and in time, becomes Santa Claus — explaining how many favorite Christmas traditions came to be and demonstrating the importance of sharing joy with others.

As with the DreamWorks collection, I have featured the Original Christmas Collection in my Holiday Gift Guide.  I would recommend purchasing it now, so it can be enjoyed all season long.
