Thousands of films are made every year, but only once in a great while does a film come along that will resonate with movie goers for generations. I may not have been alive for the original theatrical release of this beloved classic, but it was a huge part of my youth.  I know I saw The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh as a child but that is not when this film made an impact on me.  My teenage years were a bit tumultuous and I often found my heart empty.  I always had a roundness for Disney films and the familial warmth they conjure.  Sometime during those years my parents bought Winnie the Pooh on VHS.  I don’t know at what point I began watching it but somewhere amidst the teenage angst and frustration it became a part of my weekly routine.  I would come home from school for lunch and throw it in the VCR and enjoy the comfort that only that little yellow stuffed bear could bring.  Before long I had the songs all memorized and would gladly sing along the lovable cast of characters from the hundred acre wood.  Not very macho for a teenage boy, but it was just fine with me.

Film Synopsis:
Experience the very first time Tigger “pounces” Pooh; laugh out loud when Pooh’s rumbly tumbly gets him stuck in a hilariously sticky situation… All your favorite Hundred Acre Wood characters come alive in this timeless motion picture overflowing with rich animation, masterful storytelling and unforgettable songs.

Stuffed with extraordinary bonus features including the beloved theatrical short film “A Day For Eeyore,” five “Mini Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh” shorts, Disney’s groundbreaking “Intermission” activity and much more, The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh: The Original Classic will make fans of all ages shout “Hip Hip Pooh-Ray!”

This film captures innocence and childlike love perfectly.  I was so excited to introduce my children to the joy of an imaginative frolic in the hundred acre wood.  So as Fall makes its early arrival this year, I put in the blu-ray for my children and I to enjoy.  It was magnificent, before long I was singing with my kids , “I’m just a little black rain cloud!”  I could see in there little faces the innocence and joy that a film like this brings.  In a time of fast paced, over stimulating, digital entertainment, it was refreshing to slow down and remember the simple joys of friends, family, and honey!

Now as an adult, I love the craft of filmmaking.  Films like this one were a part of the motivation that caused me to go into filmmaking as a career.  One of my favorite things to do when I get a new film is explore the special features.  This blu-ray is great.  It has a full section of “The MINI Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh,” which are all new short films teaching children about friendship, loyalty and love in the way only that the gang from Pooh Corner can.  Each clip is only a minute or two but they are packed with heart, fun, and fantastic music.  Also included is the classic short, “A Day for Eeyore,” the theme song performed by Carly Simon, and the “Behind the story,” mini documentary about where the inspiration came from for this beloved film.

We especially loved the 5 “Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” Shorts: “If I Wasn’t So Small,” “Piglet’s Drawings,” “The Expedition,” “Geniuses” & “The Honey Song”. It was fun having this addition to such a cherished movie with shorts that were new and will the characters we love.

This film is on of my all time favorite films.  It holds so much love and innocence.  It has been a joy to introduce my children once again to the wonderful world of the hundred acre wood.  If you are looking for a film that will bring your whole family together, go buy this film!  Don’t delay… You are still reading… Go buy it!  Really, your small children up through your teenagers will love this classic.  You will love it.
