I love to throw a good party. Any holiday is a great reason for a celebration. Parties mean decorations, good friends and delicious food. We have thrown a few Cinco De Mayo fiestas in the past and it is always fun to be with friends, eat our favorite foods, drink our favorite drinks and listen to some fun music. Apparently though, Cinco De Mayo isn’t as popular as a holiday as I would have thought. Mexican food is my FAVORITE so any reason to eat a whole buffet of my favorite food is a perfect reason to celebrate. I went to the store to buy decorations for a Cinco De Mayo party we will be hosting on May 5th and asked an employees if they had Cinco De Mayo decorations. She said of course and directed me right to the full Luau aisle… hmmm.. not quite what I was looking for. Next stop, Party City and they had lots of great decorations. Decorations are so important when it comes to a party, which brings me to 5 important tips for throwing the perfect Cinco De Mayo Fiesta.
5 important tips for throwing the perfect Cinco De Mayo Fiesta
Decorations are so important. It gets everyone in the spirit of the celebration and really make a party fun. Cinco De Mayo decorations don’t have to be difficult. All you really need is lots of bright colors. I recommend using red, orange, yellow, green and blues. You can always decorate with sombreros, pinatas and flags. If you have kids at the party they will definitely appreciate the piñata.
Everyone loves good food and Cinco De Mayo is a fun way to celebrate with traditional mexican food. At our Cinco De Mayo fiesta we will be serving our guests El Monterey Fiery Hot Shell Shockers, Taco Beef & Southwest Chicken Battered Taquitos as well as a salsa bar. These are a delicious snack that guests of all ages will love.
The Fiery Hot Shell Shockers are really hot so those ones are definitely recommended for older ages. My personal favorite is the Southwest Chicken Battered Taquitos.
Depending on the ages of your guests there are lots of games that you can play at your party. Party games are a great way to bring your guests together and have a lot of fun. Younger guests love a Piñata where all guests can enjoy playing Hot Sombrero or Pin the Tail on the Donkey.
We are not drinkers in our home so we serve Virgin Margaritas at our Cinco De Mayo Parties. They are delicious for guests of all ages and they are easy to make. Here is our Cinco De Mayo Margarita Recipe:

You can’t have a Cinco De Mayo Fiesta without fun, upbeat music! I recommend Mariachi, Salsa or Latin Music. Fast beat and fun music can make a really fun dance party or a great background to a festive celebration. You can find music on iTunes that will be perfect for a celebration.
