Based on one of the most talked about books in years and a #1 New York Times best-selling phenomenon, THE HELP is a provocative and inspiring
look at what happens when a southern town’s unspoken code of rules and behavior is shattered by three courageous women who strike up an unlikely friendship.

I was not familiar with The Help before seeing this movie.  I had not read the book so I had no idea what to expect, beyond what I had seen from watching the trailer.  My mom was in town visiting so I had the opportunity to go to the screening with her.  She had read the book and her book club is discussing it in August.  It was fun seeing it with her and being able to see her perspective from having read book.  Having talked with her I really want to check the book out from the library so I can read it.

In going to see the movie, which I recommend that you all rush out and see it right away, because it is that amazing…I have two recommendations for you.  These are very important, so don’t forget these:

1.  You need to take lots of Kleenexes.  Because if you are at all like me, you will cry.  Probably a lot.
2.  Wear waterproof mascara.  Actually, I probably wouldn’t even wear makeup.  Even with my waterproof mascara, my eyes came out of the movie quite smeared from the crying.  I wasn’t kidding.  It’s a tear jerking!  :)

I absolutely loved this movie!  I laughed through it and I cried through it.  I fell in love with many of the different characters and I wanted to scream and yell at others!  I learned about sacrifice and love and hope and being a true friend.  The Help is an amazing story which really will make you think about how you treat those around you.    The stories are real and some of the stories are quite sad but I loved hearing about them and remembering about how things were and being grateful how things are today.  I really wanted to jump into the movie and give away lots of hugs!  :)

I really recommend going and seeing this movie in the theaters.  I will be there again with my husband when it comes out because I know that he will love it as much as I did.  Don’t tell him I said this, but I also know that he will probably cry as much as I did!  I think this is a must see movie for everyone and I have no doubt that you will come out of the movie feeling more apt to love and serve and hold those around you!!  One of my favorite lines from the movie that I absolutely love is a line that was shared with one of the kids in the movie.  It is a line that I have started using with my kids because I think it is so important to learn and remember.

“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
